Samsung Free LCD Promotion Class Action Lawsuit
April 8th, 2008
I am but 1 of many people who became eligible for a free Samsung LCD TV with the purchase of a Samsung television or refrigeration product. I personally purchased my Samsung 50″ Plasma TV just before Xmas in 2007, I completed the forms, and followed up several times until my documentation was confirmed by email on January 16, 2008. The delivery time stated on the promotion was 6 - 8 weeks. It has now been nearly 3 months from confirmation and I still have no word from Samsung, nor received the free offer.
There are many people who have purchased a television or fridge after me and have successfully received the free Samsung 26″ LCD TV as promised. Some have also received slightly bigger 32″ TVs as compensation for delays (and out of pure shortage I imagine).
I have begun compiling a list of everybody who has successfully completed their claim, received a confirmation email and are still waiting on the free TV.
I am also seeking information from those who have received their free TV, whether it is 19″, 26″ or 32″ etc. If you are in this boat, you information is also appreciated.
I will gather all of this information to hand over to my lawyers to prepare a class action against Samsung Corporation. I am also speaking with two Australian current affairs programs to air this problem and seek additional information from more affected buyers.
If you would like to participate, please send these details:
- Your full name, State, contact phone number.
- Purchase date, model purchased, date you completed online registration, what product you were eligible for.
- Date you were told by Samsung they did not receive your information correctly (if applicable, this seems to happen to almost everyone).
- Date you received your confirmation email to say that your redemption is complete.
Additional information requested by those who have received the item:
- What item/model you received.
Please send an email with the subject line Samsung Free TV Offer to samsungaction@donesold.com.au
NOTE: Feel free to leave details about your claim (dates, models etc) in the comments section, but do not post personal particulars such as name and phone numbers.

I had nothing but STRESS over this promotion I am a paying customer who brought (2) 52 inch LCD TV’s from auburn good guys late in December I filled in my promotion form and call to confirm it has been receive I also faxed and expressed posted the originals to there ultimo office in Sydney. After getting a confirmation email stating all is good, 13 week went by before I got really mad. After numerous calls and the run around I called fair trading as a start and logged a compliant knowing I had to wait 2 weeks before getting a call or follow up by a officer. At this stage I was fed up with the service from Samsung.
Honestly I can go on….. Forever with the numerous errors made on dates & misleading details given to me to brush me off, as to them I was just another number. I FINALLY received my PROMOTIONAL TVs after 4 months, me having to use my time from work, everyday being on hold for 30 – 40 minutes, even a record an hour on hold. In short I don’t believe this should have been so STRESSFUL or so DIFFICULT at the end of the day this is a “promotional offer” made by Samsung if this was going to be the case I wouldn’t purchased this or even bothered with these TIMEWASTERS.
I WOULD like to help anyone that had to go through the same dramas as I described.
I picked up my PROMOTIONAL TV’s from the following address:
Manger I was dealing with is Ed: 02 8204 4555
I will post his mobile number tomorrow as I have it in my folder at home
And the address down to the name of the company at it houses these TV for distribution in silverwater will be listed tomorrow so I suggest to everyone in this predicament to go there and pick up what was promised by SAMSUNG

1st Dec 2007- Purchased 1080p LCD LA46F81BDX. Three attempts (three months) bonus tv was sent without notification and sat at the post office until i chased it up for consignment number.
Now our 40″ LCD tv has stopped working after 4months and Hornsby Electronics have taken a futher 1 month to try and fix it. They have tried replacing the power board, then the digital board now want to replace the whole panel board BUT we are afraid that the parts will not be genuine and not only that but it was only 4 months old when it stopped working!!! We are very upset about this as no one seems to be helping.

I had the same problem with ordering a 42″ TV on the first day of Samsungs’ promotion. Despite numerous calls in late February of which most went unanswered, I was told it was dispatched but had become “lost”. This is despite the post office never receiving it. A weekly call to the Promotions team asking to speak with the Manager never ever got me through to them, despite assurances of a reply. Indeed, every girl that answered the phone after I got their name, was never there again to take up my case, but was always in a “meeting”. The manager, “Ed”, was always in a meeting.
Eventually, using an alias from a delivery company asking for Ed the manager, I got through straight away. After identifying myself, the Ed the manager told me he hadn’t received any of my messages, or complaints, and that he would call me the next day to fix it up. Of course, I never got that call. And had to go through another 2 weeks of phone calls.
At the same time in February, I sent a letter to Samsung’s complaints department and never received a reply to date.
After a threat to lodge a formal complaint with the DFT, The TV arrived some 5 months after constant messages to the Manager at Samsung’s Promotions department - and I never received a call from them, or an apology.
I would not buy a Samsung again based off this experience. All I got from the Promotions team was lies. Even when I tried to contact a customer services consultant in Samsung, I was cut off rudely by the consultant who refused to put me through to a manager, because it was quote the “Promotion Company, not Samsung” who’s problem it was to sort it out. She then angrily hung up after I refused to accept this. And as stated, I never have received a follow up from my written complaint to Samsung Corporation’s complaints department.

Purchased my 46″ LCD tv on the 15th of Feb 2008. Sent the details on the 19th of Feb 2008. I received confirmation from Samsung on the same day along with a claim number. No TV yet!
May 5th, 2008 at 1:09 pm
I bought the 46 inch F8 on 20 January 2008 and have asked Bing Lee, who lodged the information on my behalf, about the free TV every 3 to 4 weeks. I keep getting told each time you should get a call from Samsung soon - but nothing. I chose this model over the similar Sony model as the extra TV will be useful to us,whereas we had no use for the PS3.
May 5th, 2008 at 1:10 pm
How come some customers are getting the bigger units, like the 32″ (instead of 26) and the 26″ instead of the 19?
How’s this fair?
May 5th, 2008 at 3:14 pm
OK , I posted my claim form in on the 8/02/2008 and still waiting. I rang them a month ago, got some guy I could hardly understand because there was so much background noise and he told me there were two claims , so we deleted one claim and made sure he had all the correct details on the other claim form . he told me there was a delay and it should take 8 weeks. I told him I had been waiting a long time already and he said it would only take a couple more weeks at the most . Havnt heard anymore and they have never contacted me at all since I put the claim form in .
May 5th, 2008 at 5:28 pm
Yep me too.
Purchased December 27th. Still waiting for 26″ from a 46″ purchased.
May 5th, 2008 at 7:18 pm
Go to www.fairtrading.nsw.gov.au and make a complaint - they will follow it up on your behalf. They head of marketing for Samsung name is Kurt Jovais.
May 5th, 2008 at 7:45 pm
I bought my Samsung 40″ on the 12th January 2008 at Bing Lee Rhodes, I waited more than a month to receive my 40″, I lodged my claim straight after I obtained the serial number of the 40″ LCD TV which is on the 28th Feb, 2008. I had an automated reply email with the claim number from samsung but no second email stating redemption is complete, that is no confirmation that they have received my paper work through mail.
I rang 2 weeks ago, the operator said to me my claim is valid despite the absence of the second email, and I should expect my white 19″ LCD “at least” for another 2 weeks.
I wish to know exactly the criteria for Samsung in deciding which customer get an upgrade from 19″ to 26 or 26″ to 32″.
we have all waited beyond the window of 6 to 8 weeks stated during the promotion, and I totally agreed with Ripped, that it is unfair some customer get an upgrade and some do not.
I am still patiently waiting for the delivery of my 19″ White LCD.
May 5th, 2008 at 10:24 pm
Purchased LA40F81BDX Feb 17th. Still waiting for the bonus 19″. Had enough of waiting esp. that the 100Hz feature doesn’t work well in the F8’s. Anyone know if we can return the product and get our money back?
May 5th, 2008 at 10:26 pm
Hmm! I wonder why respective Consumer Affairs departments don’t prosecute companies that engage in this sort of nonsense. I just bought a Samsung color laser printer with the promise of $100 refund. I hope this doesn’t go skew-wiff as well!!!
May 5th, 2008 at 10:44 pm
Bought, or at least ordered, Samsung 50″ Plasma Full HD on 17 Jan (Thursday) PLUS a complete Samsung Home Theatre. Paid in full via Credit Card there and then.
Told on the Monday that Samsung had “none in stock” - but delivery was due 14 Feb. Took day off - NO TV !!!
Called NAPF store where I bought it.
They were great , NAPF checked.
Samsung were F@#CKING shocking.
My TV was NOT in the shipment that arrived.
Next shipment was not due for ANOTHER 6 weeks !!!
NAPF were apologetic about their supplier’s cock up.
To make up for Samsung’s crap they offered me a better Panasonic TV and home theatre at a loss to themselves.
So guess what - two fingers to Samsung.
I went for the Panasonic.
A lost sale to Samsung - so I missed the “free” TV, but saved a lot of stress and suffering from Samsung crapping on.
Samsung lost a sale, lost a customer - and will NEVER get another sale from me.
Also - anytime someone asks for recommendation - anything BUT Samsung.
May 6th, 2008 at 10:46 am
Purchased PS58P91FDX on 25/1 from Good Guys Castle Hill, NSW.
Put confirmation of serial number on website on 14/2.
Posted written confirmation of serial number to Samsung on 28/2.
Still waiting after stacks of phone calls, and endless “2-3 weeks from now” promises. First they say it’s 6-8 weeks, now I hear it’s 10 weeks maximum.
Have spoken to Jessica, Lisa, Nicole and Brad.
May 6th, 2008 at 10:51 am
Bought : Samsung LA46N81BDX
Delivery Date : Feb 18 2008
Claim filed : Feb 26 2008
Eligible for : 19″ White LCD
I had called the promotions number to confirm that the documents were received twice and both times, they said it was complete. All I had to do was wait for the delivery, which could take up to 8 weeks.
11 weeks are up. No LCD. I called up promotions and they said “Call back in 2 weeks”. When I raised the point that 26″ owners are upgraded to 32″, they said it’s because they have stopped making the 26″. No upgrade for the 19″ TV but no delivery either.
I e-mailed them but no reply, as expected. I have filed a complaint with Fair Trading NSW yesterday. Let’s see if anything comes out of it. I was supposed to give the free LCD as a gift and now even that is impossible to do. No LCD and if it arrives, it’s not worth the promised amount.
I am not going to take anything less than a TV with a genuine market value of $599 as of today. Otherwise, they will deliver the TV next year when the 19″ is worth $250. If they don’t deliver, I want a full refund because they made a false and misleading claim. Samsung can take their 46″ TV and stuff it up their you-know-where.
May 6th, 2008 at 2:37 pm
Hello People
Do you guys read the terms and condition for this promtion it clearly states and I quote” PLEASE ALLOW A MINIMUM OF 6 - 8 WEEKS FOR DELIVERY”. Now that tells me that there is MINIMUM NOT MAXIMUM, So correction to the person who started this as you have put this up as thats totally wrong. If you want read for yourself the website www.samsung.com.au/promotions you will see for yourself no where in the terms and conditions does it say you will get it 6 - 8 weeks afer you do what is asked. So it seems to me that all of you have failed to read something that is written in plain english & is printed in black & white blame yourself before jumping off at a company that is trying give away free tv’s!!!!
May 6th, 2008 at 4:51 pm
To the last comment >>
Some of us signed up under different T&C. The original T&C were printed here:
http://www.samsungpromotions.com.au/promotions/plasma/terms_and_conditions.html
These ones specifically say “Please allow 6-8 weeks for delivery.”
Regardless, 6 TO 8 defines a range. If they meant 6 - 24 they should have just said so.
May 7th, 2008 at 11:33 am
You guys are unbelievably pathetic! I am really happy with my Samsung 46 inch Full HD LCD. Bought it before the promotions after thorough research through Cnet and various other sites. The contrast ratios is far superior to any in the market and the black piano finish is really classy and makes the pictures look sharp as compared to the Sony Bravia’s X Series which had black light bleeding or cloudy problems. http://www.dtvforum.info/index.php?showtopic=44132
The Sony problem was also confirmed in the American Sony Site at one stage.
You guys should be happy that you had made a good choice to buy Samsung. Samsung in good faith gave you a free tv for crying out loud!
When I read this it makes me laugh so loud!
quote,
“How come some customers are getting the bigger units, like the 32″ (instead of 26) and the 26″ instead of the 19?
How’s this fair?”
what a joke!! You should be happy that you are getting a superior product and have thrown in a free tv!!
May 7th, 2008 at 7:04 pm
Let’s make this clear, the quality of Samsung’s LCD is one thing and their service is another. I agreed that Samsung having develop the LCD panel together with Sony has better value for money. No body is saying that it is not a good product, we all know the free LCD promotion is a fantastic offer, there is no doubt about that and I believed these were the reasons why we opted for Samsung in the first place.
However, a sensible consumer should not compromise with Samsung’s poor SERVICE and mishandling on this matter. All these comments are regarding to its SERVICE if some body is too stupid to find the distinction.
For those who are affected by Samsung’s mishandling of their marketing campaign, I really can’t see the funny side of it.
Yes its a joke that somebody who have no idea on fair trading and consumer rights actually saying good words for Samsung without knowing what is going on.
May 8th, 2008 at 10:31 am
This for people like Anthony above - you’re just complaining because you missed the promotion by a matter of days. We know you haven’t got anything and paid a load of extra cash to get the 46″ F8 when it was just launched. Hard luck mate. A little patience might have helped but too late now !
For those who say “Read the conditions” and quote “Allow a minimum of 6 to 8 weeks”, this means it is an incomplete condition because there is no maximum or any commitment to deliver. Conditions cannot be one-sided otherwise Samsung will say “You will get the TV in 20 years’ time because there is no maximum limit”. Acting in good faith means delivering on your promise and not keeping everybody waiting.
May 8th, 2008 at 1:35 pm
Well to everyone who is saying they are waiting longer than expected- I called up yesterday to check on my cliam and was told i had never updated my Serial Number with the Company, as WHEN i made my Claim i had not recieved my T.V that i paid for- hence when i made the claim i did NOT have a serial and in the claim it says “put a *” in the serial field and make sure to update it when you recieved the product and COULD provide a serial Number- MY MISTAKE, and valid point by Samsung- as far as we can make out by looking at your claim you might still be waiting for the product or have it in storage, Like i Did myself……. So Maybe before you all start kicking up a stink and bad mouthing the guys at promotions, who are their to help you, consider have YOU done EVERYTHING correct?? I found out the Hard way and I can tell you i felt so embarrased when i realised what mistake i had made after yelling and screaming at the guys…….. THINK ABOUT IT..
May 8th, 2008 at 2:06 pm
COMPLAINING ABOUT A FREE BONUS WHAT IS THIS WORLD COMING TO YOU COULD OF PAID THE SAME PRICE FOR ANY OTHER BRAND AND GOT NOTHING I ADMITT IT TOOK ME 13 WEEKS TO GET MY BONUS LCD BUT I AM NOT COMPLAINING BECAUSE I EXPECTED IT AFTER READING THE TERMS AND CONDITIONS IT SAYS 6-8 WEEKS MINIMUM THAT TO ME SAYS IF YOU GET IT ON THE 8TH WEEK YOUR LUCKY !! I THINK THE PEOPLE WHO ARE COMPLAINING DONT HAVE MUCH OF A LIFE AND WOULD RATHER SIT AROUND FOCCUSING ON THE PROBLEM AND NOT THE SOLUTION WHICH IS REALLY SAD,ALL I HAVE TO SAY IS THAT I HAVE GOT MY BONUS AND IM VERY HAPPY WITH IT EVERYONE I HAVE INTERACTED WITH AT SAMSUNG HAS BEEN SO HELPFULL THANKS SAMSUNG PS HOPE YOU PACK OF COMPLAINING PENNY PINCHERS GET YOUR TV MYN IS MAD
May 8th, 2008 at 5:58 pm
ARE YOU LOT FOR REAL?????, grow up realise things sometimes dont happen as we want them two….. why get stressed about something and loose sleep over it?? You All have an ORIGINAL TV, being a Plasma or an LCD (like mine) it took me a while to get mine, tho i had a TV already, im not going to watch two at once, Take 3 deep breaths and chill!!! They will come to you, and they will be as good as your origninal one, i was so empressed at mine as it was as good as the big one i bought form Bing Lee, Plus it will cut your power bill not having the extra one running…… geees louiseeee
May 8th, 2008 at 6:46 pm
To me001,
I have updated my serial number and called them three times to confirm that all my documents were received correctly and the claim was in proceed. Still, it’s 11 weeks and despite no mistake from my side they haven’t even got stock to deliver. It’s just a case of utter negligence on their part.
To Bunch of Scrooges,
You got your TV after 13 weeks and that’s why you can get on your high horse and abuse all of us. You may be lazy and inefficient in life, which is why you can’t complain about other people like Samsung. It shows - you typed your entire post with the Caps Lock key on - couldn’t be bothered to use proper case.
What is the solution that we are supposed to focus on ? People at Samsung are polite but can’t offer anything other than “Call back later”, which to me is a waste of my time. For your information, most of us penny-pinching people purchased the Samsung because of the free LCD offer otherwise we might have gone for the Sony or LG. If you’re not a penny-pincher, please donate your free LCD to Vinnie’s or some other charity.
May 9th, 2008 at 12:07 pm
To Chalie, thanks for looking & replying anyway.
To Jack , love your work. I too sick of these “pathetic” obviously bitter people who get on these sites and crap on about people like ourself, who are only trying to get what they were promised and paid for.(Yes paid for ,ever heard saying “no such thing as a free lunch .” or is that tv .Why anybody would look at a site like this and then post some stupid dribble about how they didn’t even qualify for a “free tv”just amazes me.Nothing better to do.
Anyway my tv has finally shown up.Hope you all hang in there and get yours.
May 13th, 2008 at 1:08 pm
Just called Samsung back again to find that my original Jan 26 lodgement had been cancelled due to being some sort of internal duplicate, BUT instead they’d taken the more recent Mar 10 version as the ‘primary’ one - thus pushing out any commit/delivery dates. Even by the Mar 10 date I’m over the 8 week delivery timeframe in the T&C’s. The promotions person I spoke to was polite and helpful, but really of no practical use since she had been given no information of note. She again said that they have had continuing stock issues - but still with no ETA. The same story now for months with no sign of relief.
This is insane - Samsung have television stocks in the shops. Why can’t they either give out the LCD, or pay out the bonus to the value it was advertised at, or transfer to another roughly equivalent model of TV?!?
I would hate to be working on that promotion line.. those poor people being kept in the dark by Samsung management yet day-in, day-out they have to deal with (understandably) increasingly angry buyers. I genuinely feel sorry for that team.
No progress by Friday will mean a Fair Trading Commission complaint from me as well.
May 13th, 2008 at 11:09 pm
I purchased a Samsung plasma TV(PS50P91FDX)in December 2007 because of the Samsung promotion offer of a bonus LCD TV (LA26R71BDX). I faxed proof of purchase, with confirmation email, as requested on 3/01/2008. Over 3 months later I sent an email to which Samsung replied, on 12 April 2008, to claim that they had not received proof of purchase and can not process claim. I scanned the receipt and sent PDF copy to ehopkins@consortium.net.au on 13 April 2008 as requested. I sent another email to Emma Hopkins 9/5/2008. Still waiting.
May 15th, 2008 at 9:17 am
To Grant -
Samsung cannot give out the stock in the shops because they don’t want to. It would have been so much simpler for Samsung to send the free TVs along with the shipment of large LCD/plasma TVs. The buyer could have picked them up at the time of purchase. The dealers could have been reimbursed $25 as handling costs. Everyone would have been happy and Samsung would have got rave reviews from buyers, instead of the brickbats it’s getting now. I believe Samsung is spending far more money on the promotions company and then some on Australia Post.
The main benefit for them to delay redemptions is to wait for the rise in the Aussie dollar, the fall in LCD panel prices and for some people to get fed up and cancel their redemption, or simply lose the TVs.
Fair Trading NSW’s time expires on the 19th and if they don’t take action by then, I’ll go to the press and expose both Fair Trading and Samsung.
To Jeff -
Emma may not even be working with Consortium. Firms like that hire backpackers on weekly contracts. Even if she was working with them, they don’t reply to any mails. I should know - I’ve sent my fair share to them.
May 15th, 2008 at 8:39 pm
purchased my samsung 50″ plasma on the 21/02/2008, sent off all my information (for the bonus 26″ lcd) minus the serial number on the 25/02/2008.
i took delivery of my 50″ plasma on the 11/3/2008
i herd nothing for the next 8 weeks (24/4/2008) so i called to make sure my information had been proccesed.
was told by Rangi ( at the promotion line ) that i needed to send off my serial number so i did this 15 minutes after getting off the phone to the promotions line, included in this email was a request for confirmation that the email was recieved.
i never recieved conformation
on the 28/5/08 i called the promotions line again and spoke too a male, he said my serial number had been recorded and then procceded to read it back yo me. He also informed me that due to my wait i would be receiving an upgrade to the 32″ and it would be delivered mid may.
I called the promotions line today and spoke to Sonya, who then told me that she had no record of my serial number and that id need to give it to her.. i expained that i knew that had it and told her about my previous phone call, where my number had been recited and i was told about the 32″ upgrade.
Sonya told me that i wouldnt be receiving the 32″ upgrade and my 26″ would be delivered in the next 4-6 weeks….
Sonya also said shed put a note down that i was promised the 32″ upgrade..i really hope this helps me…
how many more people are out there who havent found this website…
i was given the information about this website through the company that sold me the TV

Purchased a 50″ Samasung Plasma from JB HiFi and took delivery on the 31 Dec 2007.
Filled in online registration on the 1 Jan 2008, including the serial number, place of purchase etc.
I revieved a reply e-mail same day, glanced at it but did not read it fully. What I didn’t notice that it says innocuously in the text to send the receipt and a copy of the email.
As my life is not chasing promotion offers, I pretty much forgot about it, and yes, I made a simple mistake but I was expecting a TV to arrive sometime this millenium.
Yesterday, 17 May, about 4 1/2 months later, they send me an email saying that if I don’t supply the receipt by next Friday they will be accepting no further claims…Nice… except that I have made a claim, haven’t I? If there was something missing, how about a courtesy phone call Samsung? It’s not that hard… How to piss your customer off 101!!!
I found my receipt from JB HiFi and mailed it today but it is now so faded that I am sure they will claim that they can’t read it properly… we’ll see.
Anyway, I will just follow a simple rule and that will be to NEVER buy a piece of Samsung “anything” ever again…
If anyone happens to find themself having dinner with the head of Samsung Australia, do me a favour and lean over the table and bust him in the chops simply for being a total incompetent moron.

To all those poo-pooing the people who are complaining about the wait for their bonuses, consider these points, please:
1/Many people bought their Samsung sets BECAUSE of the bonus, not just the PQ of the product.
2/If you can’t deliver on a promise, DON’T MAKE IT IN THE FIRST PLACE OTHERWISE IT COULD BE SAID THAT YOU ARE MISLEADING PEOPLE.
3/To the “Oh, you are an ungrateful lot!” crowd…Nothing is free in this world. Samsung would have done their sums before offering such product bonuses. They are in business to make money, right? They haven’t lost anything but they have promised something…so it’s up to them to deliver, yes?
May 19th, 2008 at 9:22 am
To Tom,
What was it that you were trying to say ? On the one hand, you’re bagging people who bought the big LCD/plasma and on the other, you’re bagging Samsung for making promises they can’t deliver. Make up your mind first.
May 19th, 2008 at 8:21 pm
Ordered my 50″ plasma in first week of Feb 08.
Received it last week in March.
With only one email follow up for which I had no response, my 32″ LCD (yes, woohoo bigger than the promised 26″!!!) arrived totally unanounced today.
Obviously a big backlog and major stock shortages….my advice is hang in there guys, obviously some serious gremlins in the delivery pipeline.
Thanks to Samsung for comming through with goods, which I really never doubted AND I just LOVE my 50″ HD plasma….absolutely awesome, just need my Blue Ray to really appreciate the incredible high def picture quality this set can deliver!

May 22nd, 2008 at 1:43 pm
To Bunch of Scrooges,
You can certainly make out with your Samsung. There are enough sockets like AV, component, HDMI in the back of your TV to do so. I believe they’re the right size for you too.
To bazz,
What’s this about a hire purchase company and their having power ?

Forget about making any complaints against Samsung. I tried to raise the matter with NSW Office of Fair Trading. The lady from there was initially co-operative and friendly but after she talked to Samsung, her mood changed. She then accused me of wanting more than what was promised, that “the value of the offer” meant the free TV mentioned in the document and that their delay was purely because of lack of stock.
When I asked her how they had stock in the shops but none to close out the promotion waiting list and that they were waiting for the price to drop before giving the free TVs, she screamed at me and said “You got what you were promised. Samsung is not responsible for any compensation for delays and they have delivered, eventually”. This EVENTUALLY is very important to the government. You will get it EVENTUALLY and Samsung can be penalised only if they fail to deliver.
I suppose it might be OK with the government if Samsung lays the free TV on your coffin, in place of a wreath, because you have got the TV EVENTUALLY and “Samsung did not anticipate the demand”.
June 4th, 2008 at 11:20 pm
got my 32 today.. and sold it before even opening the box
June 5th, 2008 at 5:59 pm
Got my 26″ on Monday 2nd June after 3 months. Arrived unexpected got confirmation of dispatch email on Tuesday 3rd June,Happy now!!
June 10th, 2008 at 6:50 pm
Bought two 52″ beginning Feb 08. After 3 months rang fifty times, got hung up on etc etc. Wrote a letter of demand threatening legal action and they delivered 1 tv within a week. Rang looking for the other one, same run around “two weeks” etc. I printed off the conditions when I bought the tvs and it said delivery in 6 to 8 weeks, no mention of “minimum”.
It is no longer a free tv. The amount of time I have put in to get them to fulfil their promise is a disgrace. So all these people who say we should be grateful; piss off. Samsung made a promise which lead us to buy their tv over a competitors and now they have not fulfilled their promise. Simple.
And remember, if you speak to someone at Fair Trading, ask if they have any legal qualifications. If they don’t, then ask to speak to someone else. There are a lot of morons at FT.

Purchased a LA40N81BDX on the 16 December 2007.
To this date I have faxed and emailed numerous times due to the fact that I was told my details weren’t being received.
I was emailed on the 19/02 advising that my details were finally in the system.
Then after after continually phoning and email for updates I received an email late last month advising that I needed to submit my claim again! After doing that, I’ve been continually told that it will be dispatched in “2 weeks”.
I’m still waiting and like many I will never buy a Samsung again. I’m currently in discussions with the store I purchased the TV from as Samsung won’t help.
I’m competing in the 2008 Melbourne Marathon whose Major sponsor is Samsung. I’m thinking of wearing a Singlet with “Where is my $%^#ing Bonus TV” printed in very large letters.
June 17th, 2008 at 2:15 pm
My claim id was F56E28A9 and specifically says that “delivery of your LCD TV will be 4-6 weeks after 30/04/08.”
has only just passed, but when trying to find out how to contact samsung, I found this site, NOW I am concerned.
I bought the fridge for my mother, who has cancer, thinking that not only would she now have a fridge that works properly [ old one was 30+ years old] I would be able to have the small LCD tv screen for her when she needed to go into the hospice for respite care.
any one have any idea of how to contact these guys / even an email would be good.
cheers

I purchased a side by side fridge with a bonus 22″ LCD. Online form submittedend April, sent invoice, found this website, sent 2nd invoice via express post so I could confirm the claim form had arrived. Just called to follow up.
Contacted Samsung Promotions 1300 780910 and spoke to Sarah who was most helpful. Was informed that my LCD had been issued with a mailing label which means it will leave the wharehouse within 2 weeks. Total waiting time if it arrives as indicated is about 8 weeks

MY RESPONSE
Dear sir or madam
Thank you for your email
I will contact your department in the morning , however I think it pertinent to give some specific details to you for consideration of this matter in writing, so you can fully review the facts that I present below.
1
I purchased this refrigerator from Norman Ross, in good faith according to the promotion advertised in their store, on the 06/04/08 as detailed on both the original docket and upon the duplicate issued by Norman Ross on 17/06/08 —- BOTH of which show payment in full [ balance owing is NIL], and clearly indicating the model number [SRS625HNW ] and the date of purchase [06/03/08]
I respectfully suggest that you now re-examine the docket sent in to you on the 17/06/08 as this information is clearly on that docket that you concede as having received. if you then still wish to still claim that the information presented is not acceptable, then you the rest of this email THEN becomes pertinent to your company.
2
The refrigerator was delivered to my mother on 08/03/08 at XXXXXXXXX , She was an 87 year old war widow dying of terminal cancer for whom I have been providing full time home care to since October 2006 when she was diagnosed with terminal and untreatable cancer.
3
I registered on the Internet on sat 8/03/08 and received the confirmation email that same day with details of the covering note to be sent in with a copy of the original docket.
4
A copy of the original docket with the covering claim form was subsequently posted on the 10/03/08 by me, and the original docket given to my mother at her request, for warranty purposes.
5
Your original terms said that “delivery of your TV will be 4-6 weeks after 30/04/08″
6
I spoke to your promotions area on the 16/06/08 which was exactly 2 working weeks after the last promised delivery date, where I as claimed that you had not received the mail sent on the 12/03/08 and to send you another docket.
7
On that date my mother was in the XXXX XXXXX veterans repatriation Hospital Hospice for the terminally ill. She had been admitted there AFTER the latest delivery date promised by your promotion.
8
I received another docket from Norman Ross , where I was assured that the docket was full and complete for all purposes.
9
This was faxed to your promotions department from the XXXXXXXXX post office on 17/06/08
10
My mother passed away on the 21/06/08 or 3 weeks after the LATEST promised delivery date on your promotion
11
Today I received the below email from you, claiming that the invoice that I received from Norman Ross, expressly for the purposes of this promotion, is not acceptable to you.
12
The email from you implies that unless an invoice acceptable to you is sent by me to you by Wednesday the 2nd of July you will not honour the promotion to my mother or to her estate.
13
My mother will be buried with my father , who passed away 24 years ago, on Tuesday the 1st of July.
14
As I have no other siblings I am having to arrange the funeral, and as I have no knowledge of exactly where my 87 year old terminally ill mother has hidden the original receipt, I doubt that I will be able to accede to your demands.
Tomorrow morning I intend to
A
contact Norman Ross to see if they are satisfied that their duplicate receipt that they provided should NOT be accepted under the terms of the promotion that they advertised in their store.
B
Ask them to put me in contact with the Samsung representative who was in charge of supporting the promotion in their store to ask what their view of this matter is.
C
Attempt to contact the Samsung customer relations area to see if they have any views or suggestions on how this matter can be resolved.
D
Approach the SA office of fair trading to see if they regard the duplicate receipt as suitable under the original terms and conditions of the promotion.
E
Failing any resolution of the matter by COB tomorrow I will ask for the issue of a press release through a Canberra public relations firm to the usual media outlets outlining the outcomes of the above steps and ask what use they would propose to make of the information, prior to my mothers funeral at XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX on Tuesday the 1st of July.
Samsung products in general
I wish to point out that my mother was exceptionally happy to have a fridge the quality of the Samsung, that it was the first new fridge that she had had in over 20 years.
I am absolutely certain that she would have been equally delighted with the LCD TV set, should it had been delivered to her any time between the 28th of May and the 11 of June as originally promised in your confirming email of 06/03/08
I can be contacted on XXXXXXXXXXXXXXX should you wish to discuss this further or have any questions of me, however please accept my apologies for needing to have any formal reply from you in writing.
regards
XXXXXX XXXXXXXXXX
As ALL the above information is correct, and as I do have extensive contacts in the Media, we will see if the promotions group do get their act together, its not so much as playing a sympathy card, as much as I am absolutely fed up with my mother’s situation as being treated as SH$t and this stupidity that denied her a few weeks of delight at a new LCD TV has just been the last straw. and for those people out there who will ask why did I not buy her one, well because once she was told that she was getting a new “free” one, [ and she was a damn sharp 87 yr old] she was looking out for the product like a hawk and would absolutely NOT let me “waste” money on buying her one as “we ALREADY have one coming” She LIVED the depression in the 30s and 40s, every pound shilling and pence was precious.
June 26th, 2008 at 9:43 am
I have just made it through the call centre to talk to a very polite and efficient young lady from NZ called Mary and she has assured me that she has viewed the fax, that the details are sufficient and that the claim is now valid and that she will send me an email to that effect, and that the TV will be delivered in 2-4 weeks from now.
thank you very much MARY and I apologise to HER for my obvious overreaction above.

Purchased 40″ LCD on 26/12/07 from JB Hifi Chadstone, Victoria
Logged request on 04/02/2008
Attempted to call, no way to speak to operators on IVR, left message with details did not receive call back.
Received notice that receipt is unreadable over 3 months later, on 17/05/2008
Send another copy of receipt on 25/06/2008 (delayed as I don’t check email often. The receipt is fairly bad quality, it has a big JB HIFI stamp in the middle, and the model number is unreadable, but I wrote this on the fax in pen after I got it from the back of the TV, and everything else on the receipt is readable, including the JB Hifi details for confirmation if needed)
Now denied claim.
I don’t understand why it’s ok for the company to be unreachable and have 3 month turnarounds for communications, but not the customer?
Now speaking with consumer affairs.
July 23rd, 2008 at 6:53 pm
I also found this site when trying to contact Samsung after being told by Eddy at Samsung Promotions an email address to send my concerns after continous complaining. I too was told they had not received any of my details even after I gave him my confirmation code. The address given does not or n longer exists. But anyway, who am I to complain after seeing all the comments here. I was only after my $20 cash back offer on an MP3 player. Thanks to everybody here I am now stress free not chasing this up as it is not worth worrying about compared to your dilemmas, but I do sincerely hope you all get what is rightfully yours. Good Luck

We have been banging our heads on the ‘Samsung Wall’ for 5 years now. Nobody returns phone calls, emails or letters (does anybody actually do any work in that companany?) While our complaint is not about their promotion, we payed over $5000 for a television that has never given us problem-free viewing. After 5 repairs and too many run-arounds (including no-shows at tribunal hearings) we are at a loss, finacially and emotionally.
Shame on you Samsung for not sitting down and talking to us to resolve this problem.
